British Airways (BA) cabin crew began a three-day strike yesterday after last-ditch talks on a dispute over pay and conditions collapsed, leaving thousands of travellers facing chaos.
According to reports BA has cancelled flight BA105 between London’s Heathrow airport and Dubai International Airport for the duration of the strikes. It was also reported that BA’s flight BA104 between Dubai and Heathrow tomorrow, might also be cancelled due to the strike actions.
Yesterday the cancelled flights were showing on the Dubai Airport’s web site as having arrived on time.
A BA spokesperson told 7DAYS this was because the airline was flying freighters on the affected routes instead of passenger airlines.
More than 1,000 flights are due to be cancelled over the three days and a potentially more disruptive second walkout is possible for four days from March 27, ahead of the busy Easter holiday period.
“We are very disappointed that, despite lengthy negotiations, Unite has rejected the chance of a settlement and resolved that its strikes should go ahead,” the British airline said.
